On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said his government has taken many initiatives to create opportunities for them so as to enable them to shine.

He also praised the fortitude and accomplishments of the 'divyang' people.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tributes to India's first President Rajendra Prasad and lauded him as a legendary leader who epitomized courage and scholarly zeal.

Born in 1884 in Bihar, Prasad was a leading freedom fighter and close associate of Mahatma Gandhi. He is the only President to have to serve two full terms.


India’s Presidency of G20 nations is inevitable as the presidency was rotational but none of the countries that held the responsibility earlier staged a “high voltage drama” as is being done now, the Congress alleged on Friday.

“The Presidency of G20 is rotational and India’s Presidency was inevitable. Previous presidents of G20 have been USA, UK, Canada, South Korea, France, Mexico, Russia, Australia, Turkey, China, Germany, Argentina, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Italy and Indonesia. None of these countries staged a high voltage drama as is being done around India becoming President of G20 for a year,” Congress communications chief, Jairam Ramesh, said on Twitter.

Congress strategy meet on December 3 to discuss winter session of Parliament

This will be the first Parliament session after Mallikarjun Kharge took charge as the Congress president on October 26

Senior Congress leaders will meet on Saturday at the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s residence to discuss the party’s strategy during the winter session of Parliament that gets under way on December 7.

This will be the first Parliament session after Mallikarjun Kharge took charge as the Congress president on October 26.
